A new PPSR guide has been developed to help small businesses that are accessing finance or credit, and want to understand what’s listed on the PPSR against them or their business.
This new guide aims to assist users of the Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) to identify how common business transactions they perform (such as hiring equipment or receiving goods on a trade credit account) might link to a PPSR registration.
When a small business applies for finance or looks to refinance, the lender often searches the PPSR and may ask the business operator (grantor) to explain the results.
Stakeholder feedback tells us that many businesses don’t understand their PPSR search results. Some don’t even know what the PPSR is or that they have a registration listed against them or their business.
