Paper work and a calculator

Following feedback from a Financial Capability Focus Group and as part of our ongoing initiative to support people to make informed financial decisions, we have launched new online resources to help people with debt decisions, including an online calculator and expanded help content to better connect people in financial difficulty with key services.

Better connecting clients with support services

We have expanded our existing website content to provide more information on how Australians can access free, confidential advice from a financial counsellor to help them understand their options for dealing with unmanageable debt.

We have also provided a list of other support services available to better connect people with the help they may need when experiencing financial difficulty.

Take a look at our where to find help page on the AFSA website.

Income contributions calculator

We’re launching a new income calculator which shows the amount of income contributions clients may need to pay.

This tool will help people who are currently bankrupt, or can be used by people who are considering bankruptcy as an option to help them understand their obligations during bankruptcy and consider if it’s the right option for them.

Check out the income contributions calculator on the AFSA website.

AFSA is proud to be listed as a partner of the Australian Government’s National Financial Capability Strategy, and we look forward to continuing to work alongside other organisations who deliver financial capability and wellbeing initiatives to ensure people in financial hardship get the support they need.

Sign up to our AFSAsandpit research group to hear about future opportunities to help us build on these initiatives and provide your feedback.
